Winter Holiday Community Event in Support of Autistic Inclusive Meets

You’re welcome to join us for an online Winter Holiday Community Event organised by

Laura Hellfeld in aid of Autistic Inclusive Meets.

It’s designed to be a relaxed and low-demand space for the community to come together. It will take place from 6.30 to 8.30pm UK time on Wednesday, December 3rd.

🧘🏻‍♀ We’ll be joined by some of the guide’s contributors, and we’re delighted that Courtney Freedman-Thompson of Chameleon Coaching will guide us through somatic self-care practices.

These are a grounding and nurturing way to reconnect with ourselves and find calm amid the winter bustle. Courtney’s sessions have been a highlight of past events, and we’re thrilled to have her with us again.

🎤 The evening will also feature a live musical performance by singer-songwriter Amity. Amity is an Ambassador of AIM and recipient of the Royal Albert Hall’s Future Maker Award. His music will bring heart and artistry to our celebration, and we’re so excited to share in his talent.

A few things to note:

❄️ Tickets are limited
❄️ The event won’t be recorded
❄️ Donations can be any amount and are non-refundable as all money is going to AIM
❄️ The event is being run by unpaid neurodivergent volunteers
❄️ It’s up to parent/carer discretion whether or not young people may attend

Free community event: The Complexity of Unmasking Safely with Kieran Rosehosted by Neurokindred

Join Kieran Rose and Jade Farrington for The Complexity of Unmasking Safely. Part of Neurokindred's Thriving Autistically free online wellbeing event for Autistic Adults

The Complexity of Unmasking Safely with Jade Farrington & Kieran Rose

Come join us on the virtual couch as advocate Kieran Rose, who literally wrote the book on Autistic masking, and therapist Jade Farrington, who recently published an accessible resource on the topic, explore the complexities of unmasking.

Masking isn’t just “pretending to be neurotypical” – it’s a survival response to stigma, trauma, and unsafe environments. In this session, counsellor and community builder Jade Farrington is joined by academic, author, and international public speaker Kieran Rose, The Autistic Advocate, co-author of Autistic Masking: Understanding Identity Management and the Role of Stigma.

Together, they’ll discuss what masking really is, why it happens, and how to begin unmasking in ways that protect safety and well-being. Participants will gain insights into exploring identity, self-awareness, and authentic expression from two figures at the forefront of Autistic research and practice.

Free webinar: Addressing (C)PTSD symptoms caused by parent blame and other traumatic events

Listen live for free from 7 to 8.30pm on Thursday, April 24th

Parent blame and fabricated and induced illness (FII) allegations can be the traumatic result for neurodivergent families who choose to reach out for support.

The PDA Society’s 2023 Parental Blame and the PDA Profile of Autism report highlighted the damage done by professionals and services who blame parents and carers for aspects of their children’s disability.

West Midlands ADASS and the University of Birmingham recently published the first part of their research into autism and parental blame, which highlights the trauma being inflicted on families. This is in large part due to the widespread lack of understanding from services about what being autistic really means, including different needs and ways of being.

The PDA Space are running an online Parent Blame, FII & Trauma Conference on Wednesday, May 7th which is open to professionals, families, and anyone else with an interest in the topic.

In the run up to this, I’ll be speaking in The PDA Space Portal on the topic of addressing (C)PTSD symptoms caused by parent blame and other traumatic events.

You can watch live from 7 to 8.30pm on Thursday, April 24th, and it will also be available as a recording.

Register to watch live.

Alternatively, membership of the portal gives you access to the recording as well as other supportive content, workshops and webinars.

Until the end of May it’s £1 for your first month, and then £15 per month if you’d like to stay. You can find out more here.

What is A Community Guide to a Happy Neurodivergent Christmas?

As written by Jade Farrington

If Christmas is a struggle, this brand new guide is here to help you ditch the expectations and meet your needs by doing things your way.

It includes a diverse range of ideas and experiences, meaning there’s hopefully something of relevance to almost everyone.

It starts with a general overview of some of the considerations you might like to make, and is then packed with real-life examples of how neurodivergent people tailor their Christmases to meet their needs.

Sign up to receive your free copy here.

The webinar takes place from 7 to 9pm GMT on Wednesday, December 11th. It is a live community event and is therefore not recorded.

Webinar: How Rewind Trauma Therapy Reduces PTSD Symptoms Without the Need to Talk About Traumatic Events

Hot on the tails of The Nurture Programme‘s hugely successful online conference, I’m proud to announce I’ll be running a webinar for members of their Nook membership.

I’ll be explaining how Rewind Trauma Therapy (RTT) reduces PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares and intrusive memories without the need to talk about traumatic events.

There’s no need for any kind of diagnosis to benefit from RTT and studies have shown it to be extremely quick and effective, significantly reducing symptoms for 90% of people.

It’s particularly helpful for processing intense emotions, stripping these from the event and allowing it to become just another memory rather than a traumatic one that keeps getting triggered and has a big negative impact on life.

Membership of The Nook is £19.99 per month with no ongoing commitment. The price gives you access to their members-only Facebook community, webinars and more than 40 hours of existing recordings, their programmes, Q&As, and more.

Previous speakers include some amazing people like Kristy Forbes – Autism & ND Support, Tigger Pritchard: Neuroaffirming Advocate, Consultant and Trainer, Summer Farrelly, Libby Hill, Jodie Clarke, Children’s Well-being Practitioner & Autism Specialist, Autistic and living the dream, Not An Autism Mom, The Autistic Advocate, Yenn Purkis Neurodiversity page, PDA Parenting, Dr Joanne – Neurodivergent Educational Psychologist and more, so you can probably tell why I’m so honoured to be asked to speak!

My webinar takes place at 10.30am GMT on Wednesday, November 6th, and it’s recorded if you can’t make the time.
